The Bex Music Festival opens its first concert at the Chapel of La Pelouse in BEX

The Bex Music Festival will kick off on Sunday 31 May 2026 at 4pm in the Chapel of La Pelouse, at the Monastery of the Sisters of Saint-Maurice. Three pianists from three generations will share the stage for an exceptional programme. After a successful preview at Ijzerstaven, Amsterdam, last Christmas, the festival is now taking place in Bex with a new concept: young talents and established artists sharing the same recital.

Swiss pianist Brigitte Meyer will open the evening with a solo dedicated to Mozart’s Variations ‘Ah vous dirai-je maman,’ reflecting her artistic journey and love for the Viennese classics.

She will be followed by Magdalena Hirsz, founder and director of the International Chopin Young Artists Competition, which has revealed new piano prodigies. Among them, Martina Meola, the winner of the first prize of the 4th edition in 2025, will share a four-hand duet with Magdalena Hirsz on Chopin’s Variations composed by the composer in his youth.

Martina will also present a solo recital, including the Mazurkas Op. 30 n°1 and 4, Valse Op. 34 n°1, Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante by Chopin, as well as excerpts from Romeo and Juliet Op. 75 by Prokofiev and the Sonata Dante quasi Fantasia by Liszt, played on Brigitte Meyer’s Bösendorfer concert piano. Le festival, created by Robert and Machteld Schrama-Stewart, offers young musicians the opportunity to perform alongside masters and to make themselves known to the public. Other concerts will be announced soon, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy the musical and spiritual richness of the chapel.
